You can imagine my surprise when on Saturday September 6, 2014 I was perusing through Facebook and saw a picture of my soap on Bramble Berry’s Facebook page!! I did a double-take!! I could hardly believe my eyes! I had been chosen to test fragrances for Bramble Berry!
What is the S.O.A.P. Panel? Being chosen by Bramble Berry means I have the opportunity to test eight different mystery fragrances that are being considered for inclusion in their fragrance line. Bramble Berry chooses a total of 8 soap & hand made beauty product makers. As a participant in the S.O.A.P. Panel we can pick and choose the product medium of our choice. Participants will more than likely incorporate these fragrances into cold processed soap, melt & pour soap, lotions, bath fizzies, and of course we can’t forget Cold Process Goat’s Milk Soap!! 🙂 We were provided a limited supply – 1 ounce – of the mystery fragrance to work with. This limits our fragrance creativity some, but my plan is to make super small quantities of product and incorporate the fragrances in both CP Goat’s Milk Soap and Lotion, AND Beeswax lotion bars! This is going to require some super creative calculation on my part!!!
I received the package of 8 mystery fragrances in the mail on Saturday September 13, but here at Nelson Farms, TN we are super busy with chores, and we always worship The Lord on Sunday. My desire, from the beginning of this process, is to share our experience with you from the very beginning, so we waited until we had some quiet time to open the box, shoot a quick video (our very first!) to begin sharing our experience with you. This quiet time did not happen until 11:00 PM EST on Sunday 🙂
So, here we go with the S.O.A.P. Panel experience! Our plan is to upload the video for you to watch, share our soaping videos with you, and fully allow you the opportunity to be a part of the S.O.A.P. Panel!

OK, so remember that old saying “You never get a second chance to make a first impression”? Well, as you can see in the YouTube video, there were some fragrances that left me wanting more, and other fragrances that I really did not care for. So, after a good nights sleep, and all the morning chores complete I sat down, sniffed and made notes 🙂
#1 – Bakery, Yeasty, Buttery – is there a hint of popcorn in there?
#2 – Christmas? Pine accents? – Mixed Wreath…… (I give this one 3 stars)
#3 – Cleaning product, medicinal
#4 – Grape-y, Cranberry-y, Mulberry-y…..(I gave this one 2 stars)
#5 – Manly, Tobacco? Cedar? Woods?
#6 – Dirt
#7 – Polynesian Island vacation ….(5 STARS! My favorite so far!)
#8 – Fruity florals……(I gave this one 3 stars)
Now let’s see how these work in Goat’s Milk Products!

The 8 mystery fragrances have now been incorporated into Nelson Farms, TN Goat’s Milk Lotion – I must say that some smell fantastic incorporated into a product!
